ACTION! WEEK – FEBRUARY 2021

It is exciting to think of the energy and excitement that we can generate as we go forward with Assistance League ACTION! Week, February 22-26, 2021.

We wanted to raise awareness of the importance of helping children less fortunate to blossom and grow and experience the transformation that someone caring about them can make.

Our chapter presented a signed copy of The Llamas of ShangriLlama, written by Sharon “Mama Llama” Brucato, to 28 Title 1 school libraries. This fun fact filled book talks about the seven llamas who live on a happy farm called ShangriLlama. Read more about this activity here. Included with the book were llama crowns for the children to wear while learning about these amazing animals. We were disappointed given the school restrictions that we could not be with the children to read to them. Nevertheless, our chapter deemed this as a highly successful ACTION! Week activity.

Tracy Bulot, Press Elementary:

“I received your book donation. thank you for thinking or our school!…We have a few teachers in particular that absolutely love llamas! I really enjoyed how the main character completes research about llamas. Our students love to learn about animals.”

Christy Ferguson, Webb Elementary:

“I just wanted to let you know we got the books and crowns and wanted to thank you for bringing those by. So sorry I missed you! Thank you for thinking of our library and adding this cute book. My aide actually visited ShangriLlama last summer and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks again!”
