Volunteers transforming lives through community programs since 1998
Members prepare bereavement memory boxes for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano and Allen. These boxes are presented to parents whose babies have died at or shortly after birth. This program provides a bright light during a very dark time for families who have lost their little ones.
Jeanne Kelley, chapter member, shares her experience: “While at the Heart Hospital Baylor, I was working on a baby blanket for the Assistance League of Greater Collin County’s Wee Memories Program. When the nurse came into my room to monitor my vital statistics, she saw my knitting and asked me what I was making. I explained to her about our Wee Memories Program. At that point, she got very teary-eyed and proceeded to tell me that her sister had recently lost her baby during the very late stages of her pregnancy and was a recipient of one of our Wee Memories Boxes. She went on to say how it had been a very difficult and emotional time for her entire family and how touched they were by the beauty and thoughtfulness of our package. She said they would all be forever grateful to the Assistance League of Greater Collin County for giving them something beautiful during such a difficult time for their family. She encouraged me to tell members of our organization to continue this program as it provides a bright light during a very dark time for the families who have lost their little ones.”
