Word Ninjas Speech & Debate Camp

Assistance League of Greater Collin County is excited to present our first Word Ninjas Speech and Debate Camp. The camp for incoming 5th through 8th grade students is scheduled June 29 – July 3, 2026 from 8:30am-5:00pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Plano (1919 Independence Parkway). Registration is $300/student using the online registration form below.

We are honored to have nationally recognized Speech and Debate Coach Cheryl Potts as our camp director! Cheryl is the former debate coach for Plano Senior High School, member of the National Speech and Debate Association and the Texas Forensic Association Halls of Fame, finalist for National Speech Educator of the Year, and 30-year educator.

Choices for speech and debate activities include: Persuasive Speaking, Prose Reading, Poetry Reading, Congressional Debate, Dramatic Monologue, and Public Forum Debate (requires partner to register).

Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunch, two daily snacks, water bottle, laptop/tablet/mobile device (for research purposes), paper, pens, jacket/sweater. Camp attire: school-appropriate clothes (no swimsuits)

  • Registration is not complete until payment has been made.

  • No refunds will be issued after 6/25/2026.

  • Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Enrollment is limited. Campers fully registered by June 1st are guaranteed a spot. Final registration deadline is June 19, 2026.

  • Hours are 8:30am-5:00pm, June 29-July 3, 2026.

  • Campers are responsible for bringing their own lunch, two daily snacks, water bottle, laptop/tablet/mobile device (for research purposes), paper, pens, jacket/sweater.

  • Outstanding campers will receive awards.

  • Misbehaving campers will be sent home.

Payment

Registration Fee per Camper: $300.00
